Technovation

Technovation is one of the world’s largest global tech entrepreneurship programs for girls and youth. It  is a global technology and entrepreneurship program that empowers girls and young people to become problem-solvers and innovators. Through hands-on learning, participants identify real-world challenges, develop AI-powered or technology-driven solutions, and pitch their ideas as startup ventures. The program emphasizes coding, design thinking, business strategy, and social impact, helping students build both technical and leadership skills. More than just a competition, Technovation is a platform for youth to create meaningful change in their communities while preparing for the future of innovation.

Halton Chapter

Supported by mentors from local tech industries and educators, teams learn coding, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills while building confidence in STEM. The program culminates in a regional showcase and global competition, connecting Ontario/Halton youth with an international network of innovators.

2025-2026 Projects & Teams

Senior Team 2026: Future Green - Smart Sorting

Senior Team 2026: Future Green - Smart Sorting

Senior Team 2026: Future Green - Smart Sorting

Project Description

Future Green, is a mobile app that helps users properly dispose of waste using AI-powered image recognition. Users simply upload a photo of an item, and the app classifies it into one of seven material categories. Based on this classification, the app provides clear guidance on whether the item should go into the trash, recycling, or compost. By combining machine learning with an easy-to-use interface, Future Green reduces confusion around waste sorting and promotes environmentally responsible behaviour in everyday life.

Team Members

Our team is made up of five students from the Greater Toronto Area, each contributing a unique skill set to Future Green. Rachael (PM) leads project management and oversees our overall direction. Sophia (MLE) develops and integrates the machine learning model, while Anneaka (DS) focuses on data collection and training. Emily (DE) manages data pipelines and system efficiency, and Sophie (UI) designs a user-friendly interface. Together, we combine technical expertise and creativity to build a solution that makes recycling more accessible, accurate, and impactful for everyday users.

Junior Team 2026: Memory Bridge

Senior Team 2026: Future Green - Smart Sorting

Senior Team 2026: Future Green - Smart Sorting

Project Description

Memory Bridge, is a mobile app developed by 5 girls. Seniors struggle with expressing their thoughts to others because they don’t know how technology works. Our app solves these issues because we have options such as using your voice or texting, AI generated animations for seniors, a help center, and much more; offering a simple way to capture experiences most existing apps don’t have. Our project includes a technology video, a pitch video, the app’s codes, and development documentation!

We focused on creating an accessible, user-friendly design tailored specifically to seniors’ needs.

Team Members

Our team consists of the 5 of us, Aliviah, Akilina, Phoebe, Ava and Lucy, a group of hardworking girls committed to this competition. Despite having busy extracurricular schedules, we made time to attend tutorials, meet regularly, and complete our work together. For some of us, it was our first time meeting, and for others, it was a reunion. Through this project, we not only built something meaningful, but also built strong friendships. We spent many hours together, working, laughing and overall having a great time. We connected on our shared interests of music, sports and art, helping us to feel closer to one another and breaking the ice between the group  members. While our first interaction was a

little bit awkward, we all became very friendly with each other right away, planning meetings, distributing tasks, and supporting each other. No matter what challenges we faced, we stayed resilient, pushing through problems and creating solutions while learning from our mistakes. We each chose to be leaders in different areas depending on our strengths:

  • Ava as the Project Lead
  • Aliviah as the Tech lead
  • Akilina as the UI design Lead
  • Phoebe as the Research lead
  • Lucy as the Documentation and Presentation lead

This experience has taught us how to collaborate, persevere, and grow, and it has been an amazing and incredible learning journey for all of us.

My name is Isabella, and I am 10 years old. I like to draw, animate, play music, do hands on projects, and coding. I am in a grade 5 gifted program, and I like to solve problems with projects. Unfortunately, I didn’t find any friend or classmate in my community that are interested in doing AI with me, thus I don’t have a team for this project this time.
